In the fall of 2014 I was diagnosed with a severe case of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as the result of a nearly year long deployment to Afghanistan with the military. I realized I was failing as a father and husband as my marriage began to crack and my kids avoided dad more and more. I felt numb, angry, sad, and most of all detached from everything and everyone I loved. I went through many sessions of conventional therapy and found that reliving the traumatic events was only making things worse. One evening I was looking at the local newspaper and came across an article about a local life coach. His number was at the bottom of the text so I called and made an appointment. The results of my time working with him were incredible and I feel like it gave me my life back. I became able to be a husband and father again without the constant anchor of the PTSD weighing me down. I came to believe so much in the power of these deep relaxation techniques that I resolved to become certified to do them myself. I feel like I've been given an incredible gift and that my purpose now is to help others as much as I've been helped with these alternative modalities.
